About BuckID
We're building the first AI platform that can identify individual whitetail bucks from trail camera photos — automatically.
The Problem
8.1 million deer hunters in the US run 8.4 million trail cameras, generating billions of photos every year. Most of those photos sit on SD cards, unorganized and unanalyzed. Hunters know there are bucks on their property — but they can't easily track which ones, where they move, or how they grow year over year.
Existing apps can sort photos by species (deer vs. turkey vs. raccoon). But none can tell you which deer is in the photo. That's a completely different problem — and it's the one we're solving.
Our Approach
BuckID uses cutting-edge computer vision — the same class of AI used for facial recognition — fine-tuned specifically for whitetail deer. Every buck gets a unique 1,536-dimension "fingerprint" that can match the same deer across cameras, properties, and seasons.
