1. Information We Collect

Account Information: When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and password (encrypted).

Photos: Trail camera photos you upload are stored securely. We extract EXIF metadata (GPS coordinates, timestamps, camera model) to enable location tracking and movement mapping features.

Property & Camera Data: Property names, locations, and camera placements you configure.

Usage Data: We collect standard analytics (pages visited, features used, session duration) to improve the product.

AI Processing Data: When photos are analyzed, we generate vector embeddings (mathematical fingerprints) of detected deer. These are numerical representations, not images.

2. How We Use Your Data

We use your information to:

  • Provide the BuckID service (deer identification, tracking, mapping)
  • Process your photos through our AI pipeline
  • Enable cross-property deer matching (only with your explicit opt-in)
  • Send service-related communications
  • Improve our AI models and product features

3. Photo Privacy & Location Data

We understand that property locations are sensitive for hunters. Your GPS data and property locations are:

  • Never shared publicly — your property locations are only visible to you
  • Never sold — we do not sell location data to any third party
  • Encrypted at rest — stored with industry-standard encryption
  • Cross-property matching is opt-in — if you enable network matching, only deer identity data is shared (not your exact property boundaries or camera locations)

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We may share data with:

  • Cloud infrastructure providers for hosting and storage
  • Other BuckID users only if you opt into the cross-property matching network, and only deer identity fingerprints (not photos, locations, or personal info)
  • Law enforcement if required by valid legal process

5. Data Retention & Deletion

You can delete your account and all associated data at any time. When you delete your account:

  • All photos are permanently deleted from our servers
  • All deer profiles, embeddings, and sighting data are removed
  • Property and camera data is deleted
  • This process is irreversible

6. Security

We use industry-standard security measures including encrypted data storage, secure HTTPS connections, and bcrypt password hashing. Photos are stored in private cloud buckets accessible only through authenticated API calls.
